- Clearly there has been a dramatic reduction in gaps since the early days of F1
- The general trend towards reduced gaps means this factor favours recent years
- Gaps nearly tripled between 1990 and 1994. Since this time the trend towards smaller gaps has continued
- The current Mercedes dominated era has seen gaps increase somewhat from the lows set in 2012 (our overall points winner)
