It’s been 17 months since F1Bytes wrote a piece on the incredible journey of Robert Kubica. In June 2017 Robert tested for Renault and was potentially in line for a race seat for the 2018 season. Unfortunately that didn’t transpire.
Fast forward to 22 November 2018 – in the lead up to the final race of the 2018 Formula 1 season Williams announced Robert will join rookie George Russel as their drivers for 2019.
By our reckoning come race day at the Australian Grand Prix in 2019 Kubica won’t have raced a Formula 1 car for 3,046 days – well over 8 years! As you will see from our post that puts Robert in 6th for the longest period of time of any driver between races. But there is a big record to break if the Pole is again to stand on the podium in F1.
So can he break that record? As Robert eloquently said about his journey to his 2019 drive and the future – That was a human story…now its about sport!
